Warm Up with a Funnel Mill Bourbon Lapsang Souchong Toddy

Warm Up with a Funnel Mill Bourbon Lapsang Souchong Toddy

There's something deeply satisfying about a drink that warms you from the inside out. Our Bourbon Tea Toddy does exactly that — marrying the floral or malty depth of Funnel Mill's finest Lapsang Souchong teas with the smooth, honeyed warmth of bourbon.

Whether you're winding down after a long week or hosting an intimate evening gathering, this recipe is as elegant as it is effortless.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz Funnel Mill Lapsang Souchong teas, brewed strong
  • 1.5 oz bourbon
  • 1 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Star anise, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Brew strong. Steep your chosen Funnel Mill Lapsang Souchong teas for 4–5 minutes. The stronger the brew, the more the tea's character shines through the bourbon.
  2. Sweeten while hot. Stir in honey until fully dissolved — raw honey adds a lovely floral complexity.
  3. Add the spirit. Pour in the bourbon and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness.
  4. Warm your mug first by rinsing it with hot water, then pour in your toddy.
  5. Garnish thoughtfully. Drop in a cinnamon stick and a star anise for an aromatic, café-worthy presentation.

Tasting Notes:

The floral or malty notes of Funnel Mill tea layer beautifully with bourbon's vanilla and oak warmth. The honey rounds out any bitterness, while lemon keeps it lively. It's a cozy, aromatic sipper that feels as luxurious as it tastes.

Pairing Suggestion:

Serve alongside dark chocolate, spiced nuts, or a slice of pecan tart for a complete sensory experience.

A Note on Tea Selection:

Not all teas are created equal — and at Funnel Mill, we take that seriously. For this recipe, we recommend reaching for a Lapsang Souchong teas for a malty backbone. Browse our curated tea collection to find your perfect match.
